About Us

Body and Belly has been in business since 2015, and was born from the merger of two separate Farmer's Market endeavors by Debbie and Dulcie (mother and daughter).

The original Effervesce Bath Shoppe began when Dulcie's son Shane was struggling to manage his eczema.  After the concentration of his prescription steroid cream was increased for the third time, Dulcie began to wonder if an all-natural, chemical-free remedy was the best alternative.  After much research and experimentation, and after going cold-turkey on both the steroid cream and over-the-counter drugs, Shane has been happily eczema-free for over three years.  With the exposure from the Sykesville Farmer's Market, and through requests and feedback from loyal customers, the business expanded quickly to include all of the products you will see here on this website.

Debbie had been selling her baked goods to friends and co-workers for years, but when the opportunity to participate in the Farmer's Market came about, she jumped at it.  Her famous Zucchini Bread was the anchor product for The Yummy Tummy Shoppe, but that quickly expanded to spices, organic pet treats, jams, salsa and other desserts, especially several gluten-free options that promised not to taste like cardboard.

Due to the overwhelming response and support from our Sykesville Farmer's Market clients, the decision was made to combine both businesses into one, with all new packaging and a new tagline:  Pamper Your Body - Pleasure Your Belly.  As we head into our third season, collectively, we decided to offer all items for sale online, especially through the winter season when outdoor markets are simply not feasible.

Keep checking back, as we will be posting information on new products, weekly featured products and tie-ins with various non-profit organizations at each Sunday market.  You can also create an account on our website, and sign up for our email notifications.  The 2016 Sykesville Farmer's Market starts on Sunday, May 15th, and runs through October 30th.  We are so excited to see our loyal customers this season, and we are looking forward to meeting many new friends as well.  We hope you enjoy our products as much as we do!
